June 6, 2001 - Boonslick Chordbusters to host the second annual quartet invitational!

Last year's quartet invitational was such a hit that we decided to do it again!  On June 23rd  many of the more fashionable quartets in the region are planning to descend on Columbia for a night of fun, fellowship, and good old-fashioned harmony!

Everyone is welcome.  Quartets of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.  What better way to sharpen those musical skills than singing for a friendly barbershop audience?!  There are no registration fees,  admission charges, judges, or scoring but there will be plenty of fun as we all join together to celebrate this wonderful hobby we share together.

Last year we had a very strong turnout from the Sweet Adelines.  This year they are again welcomed and encouraged to attend!

The evening will be formatted with an MC and a schedule of the quartets appearances.  Each quartet will be asked to sing 3 to 4 songs (this will be somewhat negotiable as the schedule allows).  We are trying to arrange it so that the quartets do not sing the same songs, so if your repertoire is limited please sign up soon and let us know what you will be singing.   A little biographic information will be good to have for the short program we will be printing.  There will be plenty of food, but if you want to bring a carry-in snack that’s always welcome!

The location is the ballroom in the Tiger Columns at 23 South 8th Street in Columbia at 7:30 p.m.  There will be places to change and to warm up.  Early arrival is suggested as we intend to start promptly at 7:30.  This room offers great sound but we will be providing some sound amplification anyway.  Please let us know about how many folks you will be bringing as the hall holds only 300 comfortably.

As we did last year, we will be glad to help quartets wishing to spend the night in Columbia with hotel reservations and travel directions.

Email Chuck Bay at cbay@socket.net with your:
Quartet Name
What City / State you are from
The member's names in your quartet
If you need help with lodging / directions
The number of guests you will be bringing
The songs you would like to sing ranked with 1 as the most favored.

This really is a wonderful excuse to gather together a good cross section of quartets from around the area and just enjoy making harmony!  Please feel welcomed and know we want you to be a part of the evening!
