The Overtones

(left to right)
Greg Grote, Tenor
Park Bay, Lead
Wayne Walker, Bass
Fred List, Baritone

The Overtones are the oldest quartet in the chapter, both figuratively and literally, and have been together since about 1996 (or maybe longer . . . we forget).  We sing a variety of old-time favorites and tear-jerking ballads.  Park, Wayne, and Fred live in Columbia and are all retired . . . Park from banking, Wayne and Fred from education . . . Greg lives and works in Jefferson City.

Greg has been the Tenor since 2001 when Kenny moved on to other musical interests.  One of the many problems with having Greg in the quartet is that the Overtones will not be eligible to compete in the senior division until 2014, at which point Fred will be 97 and the total age of the group will be about 310 (exceeding the Society minimum requirement by 70 years)!

Here are a couple of photos from our performance in the Chordbusters' 2002 Fall Show:

OK, I will probably get into trouble for this one, but I just couldn't resist posting the following photo:

(unknown photographer)

Hey, who's the tall guy in the middle?  That's right . . . it's Mr. Baritone, Fred List!  And the young lady just to his right?  That's his lovely wife, the late Mary Alice, who lived just around the corner when they were growing up!  I won't embarrass Fred by saying what year this was taken, but I WILL say that the year is evenly divisible by 10 and the 4 digits add up to 13 (heh heh heh . . .).
